A month semester holiday I got many things, even though I am
as “mahasiswa kupu-kupu” it means “kuliah pulang-kuliah pulang”. I think is not
tottaly wrong what we chose for what kind of college student to be as long as
within reasonable and positive limits. I often I heard that as college student ought
be active in campus activities, it means join and follow to organization there.
I think it is also good, because we can learn many things in organization.
Another important thing is to reach point to yudisium requisite, then how about
became college student like me? I never join or follow those are organizations
in campus, join or follow in some organization need an intention in ourselves
because something that is forced will not be good later, what I’m talking about
here according to what I did and based on my personal experience guys.
I often
heard don’t become a mahasiswa kupu-kupu it made me issued a little opinion
that every individual has its own fun, has its own busy, so if there’s
individual like me don’t judge them college got nothing, we could have other
achievements that require focus on college, for example they go to college
while working, maybe they no less great like “hima member” or another. It
doesn’t mean that those who join or follow an organization are not great,
surely they’re awesome with all agendas and they always dividing their time
well. So whatever you do, do it all with whole heart, never comparing your
process with each other, because what we want it’s different. Cheer up !1!1!.
Remember about point to yudisium requisite, it make me always looking for some
events or seminars. I already followed some seminars in several campuses. This
time I want to share my experience of attending Cooperative Learning Seminar
with Yuta Otake.
I was very
excited and felt fun because this seminar was different from the seminar that I
had participated in previously, who just sat and listened to the speakers. I
got more practice yesterday, anyway Yuta Otake is from Japan but he has
hometown in New York, if you curious with him you can see on instagram
@travel_teach_share . He is master of Arts in TESOL (4.0 GPA) Bachelor of Arts
with Honors in East Asian Studies. The topic in seminar is cooperative learning
boosting students’ English skills through cooperative learning. This seminar
its helpful to me inshaallah because I become a creative teacher later
Aamiin,,, here I also got Ice Breaking Strategy. As usual in the first opening
he introduced himself, he is funny person, he is too cute wearing baju koko;) I
took a picture with him let’s see my onions highlight on my ig @irenejuninda .
Ok let’s begin I share, what is cooperative learning in general? According to
that I read on Cooperative Learning – US Department of Education, cooperative
learning is a successful teaching strategy in which small teams, each with
students of different levels of ability, use a variety of learning activities
to improve their understanding of a subject. Each member of a team is
responsible not only for learning what is taught but also for helping teammates
learn, thus creating an atmosphere of achievement.
“Cooperative
learning is like onions”, Yuta said. Why like onions? Because onions have layer
it means many steps to learning, emotional because sometimes onions made us
crying when we cut learning is not all about happy feel, all mix feel there to
learn something. Responsibility is the most important to learn something,
responsibility to yourself when doing or learn something. Yuta taught us first
ice breaking :
the step:
-
I have bottle
(you can use everything you have)
-
I
put in here head (you can put everywhere what you want in your body)
-
It
goes round and round round (while rotating the hips and body repeatedly)
Maybe it can be confusing to understanding because I can’t
give this video on my blog but don’t worry you can comment below if you want to
see how to do this ice breakings maybe I will upload story on my ig because I
don’t have youtube channel hahaha.
The second ice breaking is he divided us in some groups, and
we did story with two words : fortunately and unfortunately, for example
fortunately I can attend this seminar, unfortunately I haven’t breakfast,
fortunately I brought money in my wallet, unfortunately the foods in canteen
was run out. We said that in front of our new friends.
The third game is he gave us paper, we should draw something
what the mos important to help us learning except draw parent and smartphone.
Our paper collected and we must have a group, he gave our paper randomly and we
must story telling about the picture that we have, he gave the topic “how to
escape from this island using picture we have” my group got 4 pictures are
straw, book, glasses, and tottochan book, and we must high imagination to
arrange those picture and make story escape from this island using 4 things.
The last is we sang baby Justin Bieber’s song, Yuta told us
we should not be shy in expressing style especially when we dancing with our
student, if we shy how about the student imitate us? Alright, every song lyrics
we create motion. From the song we can grouping in BAWD, what is BWAD?
Build : artistic,
representation, sculpture, diorama.
Act : Skit,
interpretive, dance.
Write : narrative, poem,
new verse.
Draw : billboard,
comic strip.
All learning
strategies can be grouped into BAWD, the last section we make a poem the topic
from student and teacher, student and teacher have some similarities and some
differences, from two element we can found balance in learning. Teamwork is
about understanding other prespectives. Thank you for taking your time to read
my writing, hopefully it is helpful, see you on my next experiences x.
